My entry for Shizens Stand Firm Stay Firm Contest

Did you send an entry for this photography contest?

I was excited to participate in this online photography contest. It wasn't just any ordinary competition; it is aimed at empowering and honoring women. The subject of the photo to be submitted is quite simple: share your best shots that tell the story of "Stand firm, stay firm."

Relating this subject to my own life, I believe that my strength as a woman lies on my mission to nurture my son's life. I guess I wouldn't be wrong in saying that a lot of mothers discover strengths that they didn't know they were capable of until they give birth to another life. My son has been my source of inner strength and through the years, I know I keep getting stronger because of my desire to protect him, to cherish him and to give him the best possible life I can offer.

When I encountered this competition from Shizens, I already knew what I wanted to capture --- my son and me during one of our happiest times, those times when we just don't care about anything else and just caught up in our moment. It wasn't easy capturing a 4-year-old. But with a tripod and the camera's self-timer, I was able to take a few shots.

This was my best shot and was my one and only entry to the competition:

Each photo must be submitted with a caption. Mine was a vow to my son:

I may not have the greatest treasures in this world to offer you, my child, but I vow to hold your hand, to cherish every moment, every warm touch and every loving smile for the rest of my life. I may not have precious riches but I offer you a mother’s love. Let the storms come; I will be beside you to shield you from harm and to be your strength, now and for eternity. #standfirmstayfirm

I was overwhelmed by the response of my family and friends when I shared this on Facebook. There's a small chance of winning but with the support given by my loved ones, I feel like a winner already. Thanks, everyone! You make my heart burst with your love!

I knew I must have a record of this on my blog. It was a fun and memorable activity for me (and my son).
